On : My fear is that getting international agreements in place is the easiest part of the problem. The hard bit will be the proverbial last-mile. People will have to change their behaviour in ways that are pro-environment. And for that, they will have to be more pro-social. It is here that things get stuck.

As Medicaid unwinds... Before the pandemic expanded Medicaid coverage, ~30% of prenatal Medicaid enrollees had lapses in Medicaid coverage by 9-10 months postpartum. State postpartum Medicaid extensions could prevent a return to prepandemic rates of postpartum coverage loss. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37406233/

📝 Recent research from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health links the 2021 Child Tax Credit expansion to significant improvements in adult mental health.

Among the lowest-income adults, anxiety symptoms improved by more than 13% and depressive symptoms improved by more than 9%, finds a study by Akansha Batra, Kaitlyn Jackson, and Rita Hamad.

An economist's perspective is always useful.

@anupam tells us that "Decline in real wages of food delivery workers and around a third of them holding graduate degrees reveal a dire unemployment situation. Instead of blaming platforms for the condition of gig workers, governments must facilitate manufacturing, skilling, basic safety nets and quality education"
