If everyone was spread out onto different instances, and communities were based all over the fediverse, the decisions of one instance would be less impactful.
Federation is a tough thing
like on kbin to see a com (COmmunity/Magazine) from other instance that doesn't already appear you have to first search for it, but then you don't see any posts, so to see them on your instance you have to look them up as well, and also comments. and it doesn't display the right member count and the outstanding custom css that...
