I originally read the Otherland series by Tad Williams in Swedish when it was new, and I remember it made quite an impression on me.
Enough that I've now started re-reading it in English. The impression is perhaps not as strong, but I blame myself for that. 😁
I would througly recommend it to anyone who like sci-fi and especially cyberpunk.
In some ways its hard to believe Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash (1992/2011) was published 30 years ago; with its mix of #cyberpunk & shoot-em-up, allied to a central part of the story being about refugees 'invading' other countries, it all seems rather timely. Of course, its familiar, as its been so influential on subsequent #scifi, but apart from some occasional oddities (no flash drives, some odd gender dynamics) its still sure footed.
Może jednak nie gówno, przepraszam, bo wielu osobom ta książka się podoba. Ale dla mnie to jest tak płytkie, tak źle napisane i tak schematyczne, jakbym ja usiadł i w parę wieczorów to napisał, bez żadnego przygotowania. Jedyne, co ratuje tę książkę, to świat, bo na 224 stronach autorowi naprawdę udało się stworzyć kompletny świat i wbić w typowy cyberpunk. Jest tutaj też sporo akcji Natomiast cała reszta szybko wyleci z mojego umysłu.
Ze względu na świat to dobra pozycja do "egranizacji", ale gdzieś mi mignęło, że ta książka może nawet być na podstawie gry. Tylko nie mam pojęcia jakiej. Pod kątem historii i klimatu jest to podobne do Cyberpunka 2077, ale poziom fabularny dzieła Redów do tej książki to jakby porównać poziom NBA do osiedlowej gry dzieci.

Nie spodziewałem się za wiele rozpoczynając lekturę i może dlatego ta książka kopnęła mnie między oczy - to topka powieści, które czytałem w tym roku (a przeczytałem więcej niż jedną).
Co prawda, im dalej w las, tym bardziej czuć, że to jednak "młodzieżówka", ale tutaj nie należy tym się kierować - to futurystyczna fantastyka, lekko cyberpunkowa, która nie tylko dostarcza fajną historię, ale też pokazuje, do czego ludzkość może doprowadzić eliminując choroby, wprowadzając wszechwładne AI (które jest tutaj pokazane nawet w pozytywny sposób) i mając pełnię władzy. Polecam gorąco, bo zaskoczeń też jest tutaj sporo.

Question...Since Amazon KDP is really weird about a writer having their work in other vendors, if I would post a serialized book to #medium with chapters as they come, would Medium have issues with me publishing the finalized copy to Amazon, Google Play Books, etcetera?
