Lower oil prices in the US mean more damage to the biosphere, the world, and ultimately the US and even Venezuela. This view is as myopic as the one it seeks to criticize.
The real solution is to phase out oil production and use as rapidly as practicable. Doing this will solve many huge problems, but also have the added benefit of rendering this entire conflict moot.
I think a lot of their power is that people don’t think change is possible, or are too distracted with day to day concerns. But I think it can happen if people demand it forcefully enough.
