An evacuation train that evacuated people from Irpin, Kyiv region, in the spring of 2022 was installed on St. Michael’s (Mykhailivska) Square.

In the spring of 2022, when Russian troops were near Kyiv, an evacuation train was going back and forth to rescue as many women and children from Irpin as it could.

Russia shelled that train on March 5th. Thankfully, it was on its way to pick up refugees so no one was injured, but the shelling also damaged the tracks, making further railway evacuation impossible. By that time, the train had already saved over 10,000 lives.
