I decided to set up my own instance to give me more control over my lemmy experience. But I had already subscribed to lots of communities on several other instances....
Is there any interest for the option to “hide” posts? I used it all the time when I was on reddit and would love to see it added here. The feature was always helpful to keep the homepage clear of posts I’ve already read.
Is there a setting anywhere for moderators to take a community private (to make the posts, comments and other data visible only for people who are subscribed)?...
I’d like to request to be made a moderator of the !virtualreality community. The mod, @Semi, hasn’t had any activity in the last 3 months. I tried contacting them, and haven’t received a response.
I run a community called, c/mmababes, where I post pics of martial artists who have given me their consent. I want to start posting short video clips as well but the video hosting options I’m aware of are not adequate (on Reddit you could upload video clips directly to the site and this was a good solution, minus the issues...
I got banned for a day. There was zero communication about it. I simply could not log in any more without any prior warning or any information about what was going on, or about the reason for the ban. This seems like a pretty bad practice because it wont give the user any chance of knowing what they did wrong and how to change...
I’m basically alone on 3d printing. It might be a good idea to recruit some help at some point, but I’m in a conundrum about what to do. I didn’t create the community, and I’m the 4th mod down. The other 3 are not active. I don’t want to discourage them, but I don’t want the community to get discouraged by inactive...
I haven’t been checking politics subs (or communities as they’re known as on lemmy) much, but just did today, and immediately realized that the best sort, sort by controversial, is missing.
Not sure if this is a bug or a feature. I thought it was either my client or lemmy.world being slow today, but I also tried posting the same reply through the website and it was still posted as a parent comment.
Surprised lemmy.ml hasn’t defederated that instance, given the massive amount of brigading, racism and blatant misinformation that their users encourage....
Love Lemmy and this server. I appreciate the probably hellish amount of work that goes on to keep this ticking over, truly. But is there a privacy statement available? I like to know these things.
For the past days I’ve noticed that posts/comments I make on my lemmy.world account are not (or rather very slowly, if ever) federated to the source instance of the community and post/comments that are on the source are not (or rather very slowly, if ever) federated to the local copy on lemmy.world....
Currently the choices are either “anyone can post” or “only moderators can post”. I’d like to have something similar to Reddit’s “approved user” feature so that non-moderator subscribers who are trusted can also post to communities in addition to moderators.
I have noticed a popup from my Malwarebytes early this morning saying ClimateJustice.Rocks is blocked due to Trojan when I have just gotten up, and that is odd since I found that is a Mastodon instance and I have not been on it at the time. Even though I have attempted to add the domain to my allow list on the possibility it...
Came over from Reddit, and now I am trying to get the hang of things here. It feels like the ‘automated archive’ posts make up about 50% of my Lemmy feed. Why and how are they here?
Just now, loading the page lemmy.world, I saw a different user’s main page. The page loaded in light mode (I use dark) with the username of /u/froodloop in the top right. Then a moment later, it refreshed into my expected main page with my username in top right. This went past too quickly to get a screenshot, but it was...
It’s related to the flood I mentioned in an earlier post, but I think more people can want to do similar things, sharing all their content on lemmy to make it discoverable. I think people might want to do it for different legitimate reasons, and I’m not sure what the right way to do it is....
