Consider Phlebas/Use Of Weapons: tragic space opera is my favorite kind. Gideon The Ninth: sci-fantasy popcorn with a sass-mouthed narrator. Providence: Fresh take on ubiquitous scifi tropes, and I’m a fan of Max Barry’s punchy writing style.
