Hello everyone and welcome back to another FOSS Runescape recap! Many of these servers are playable today, free forever, and more authentic than the current version by Jagex. The /c/Runescape mod team endorses every project in this list!

Darkan.org - 2012 Remake

Status: Fully playable!

Darkan is the oldest remake on this list - It’s been developed for years by a veteran RSPS owner, with authentic dungeoneering support, multiple near-maxed players (on 1x exp rate), the first OSRS player to max, and more.

Darkan is running the 2009 Halloween event!

2011scape.com - 2011 Remake

Status: Playable Beta!

2011scape is a newer WIP remake, with major pieces of content being implemented constantly. It is the only remake server with a scaling XP curve - Enjoy the noob levels longer, and get through the later ones faster.

For the month of October, 2011scape has rerun the 2003 Sythe collection Halloween Event!

2009scape.org - 2009 Remake

Status: Fully Playable!

With developers from 2004scape and OpenRSC, as well as dozens of contributors, 2009scape has an active playerbase and tons of content.

2004scape.org - 2004 Remake

Status: Pre-Alpha

2004scape breaks records in RS reverse engineering. It’s the first RSPS with a real 2004 cache, has the most advanced RuneScript ever made, and a webclient. While other remakes on this list feel like original, 2004scape feels like a leak.

Pazaz, the project lead, has set up a real 1998 Windows PC for maximum project authenticity

OpenRSC - 2003 & 2001 Remake

Status: Fully Playable

OpenRSC is fully complete. It supports mobile, web, and botting, with a larger playerbase than official RSC did before shutdown!

The Odyseey, a tribute to Runescape Classic, has been released on the RSC Cabbage server
With 4 months of development, Runescape Classic 5.29.0 has been released!
A new 3rd party client is being developed: Meteor by Nulled will have plugins, stretched mode, and multi-rev support!
The rsc-c client, which hasn’t previously been covered in this blog post, has had 70 new bug fixes/features
Stormy, the maintainer of APOS Bot from 10 years ago, has reappeared and started comitting on APOS again
IdleRSC, another popular bot client, has tagged 2023-10-31 for release, with 22 new bug fixes & features
