It’s funny here

Not so funny in real life

electric,

Yeah. 😥

orthen,

Equating Israelites to the space Nazis is a bit harsh and also ironic, isn’t it?

electric,

The intent was to portray Netanyahu as Dukat, not to disparage a nationality. But yes, the irony is dangerously sharp.

orthen,

I see. I agree that the middle east would very very likely be far better off without Netanyahu. It’s just that so many people seem to oversimplify the situation -for one side or the other- and I’m somewhat wary of that.

electric,

Risa is a safe place. I would hope that a Star Trek fan is capable of understanding nuance.

simpleTailor,

DS9 writers modeled the Cardassian occupation of Bajor (in part) after the Israeli occupation of Gaza. The book A Different Trek goes into detail if you want direct sources and a fuller discussion of how the Jewish-American writers and actors involved with the show didn’t think it was “ironic” as you put it.

orthen,

Interesting, I’ll have to look into that. So far, I have rather identified Bajorans as the “space jews” and Cardassians as the “space nazis”.

thefartographer,

Does Bajoran come before or after Brazilian? Hundreds, thousands, millions, billions, trillions, Bajorans, Brazilians, bajillions?

Is there even anything after a bajillion?

electric,

Your brain on Ketracel White.

tacosanonymous,

Oof.

Is Janeway going to send them billions of credits?

electric,

No, this guy will. https://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/database/history/jaresh-inyo-homefront.jpg

Janeway’s been sent to “monitor” the situation with 2 starships though.

QuandaleDingle,

This is…timely. XD

electric,

To me, it’s a marathon. One I’m losing. 🫡
