Yesterday the EU approved new rules on energy efficiency to reduce our final energy consumption by at least 11.7% by 2030, compared to the energy consumption forecasts made in 2020.
This will drive energy savings in critical sectors like buildings, industry, and transport, moving us forward on our path to becoming climate neutral.
It will also strengthen our energy security and further decrease our dependency on Russian fossil fuels.
I appreciate the effort and am fully aware that the by far biggest obstacles is the Council plus those groups in the EPP who can be considered as parlamentarian arms of the FF and other #climatecrisis fueling industries:
But minus 11.7% by 2030 isn't near enough of what's necessary.
