Something to note for people using Mastodon 4.2.0-xxx - the advanced/multi-column layout now has a different URL. If you use a shortcut to get to a mastodon instance and have the advanced web interface enabled, you will land on a non-advanced, single column layout. Update your shortcuts to include "deck", such as:
infosec.exchange/public/local becomes infosec.exchange/deck/public/local
@jerry the only thing I want from the web interface is to open posts in a new tab, but on my home server, not theirs. There's no option for this yet, is there?
@jerry what's even more annoying is that mastodon.social did switch to this behaviour not long after the first big wave of signups last year. I wonder if they just have a custom patch for that or what.
@siguza you just gave me an idea - go into setting, flavors and then pick vanilla mastodon and see if the behavior changes. Glitch uses a dated fork of the mastodon front end because it includes a bunch of customizations.
