Over half of the participants are eager for the transnational #citizensjury in 2024 to share their experience with other citizens, #regroup and EU policymakers! 🇪🇺
Very grateful to receive the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) Early Career Award for my research on the visible and invisible mechanisms of information control in authoritarian states
Receiving this prize truly is an honour, and I'm particularly grateful to the institutions (and mentors!) that have supported me in pursuing research across established disciplinary boundaries, including:
Maastricht University (FASoS), University of Helsinki (HCAS & Aleksanteri Institute), Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS), NWO, Helsingin Sanomat Foundation, Leibniz IOS Regensburg, Leibniz Institute for Media Research (Hans Bredow Institute).
Such awards tend to reinforce the idea of 'individual excellence' in academic research and push collaboration to the background. I'm immensely grateful to my co-authors, collaborators and network.
The best research emerges when we think together #TeamScience
In two weeks (December 5) the deadline closes for applying for our full professorships in political communication and journalism @cpc@UvA_ASCoR University of Amsterdam.

Uplifting participant feedback reaffirms the project's impact: More than a dialogue space, it is empowering #citizens to actively shape important issues.
I know you are not so keen about this site, but here is @Skolinkvisition ’s mega tread of today. It’s really worth following and if you are not that good at Swedish also translate. He’s offering a full seminar about how Swedish education ended up in the catastrophic state where it is today … referencing the historic policies and legislation changes over time and their consequences https://twitter.com/skolinkvisition/status/1726191071099793753?s=12&t=BZevthLbzbU4ykoSU5vmzA
Graeber, David; Wengrow, David. The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity (2021)
I have already finished reading this long and powerful book. Now I have to meditate on the ideas it brings...
"Over the course of these chapters we have instead talked about basic forms of social liberty which one might actually put into practice: (1) the freedom to move away or relocate from one’s surroundings; (2) the freedom to ignore or disobey commands issued by others; and (3) the freedom to shape entirely new social realities, or shift back and forth between different ones."
"The Open Encyclopedia of Anthropology (formerly
Cambridge Encyclopedia of Anthropology) is a growing teaching and learning
resource. Its goal is to facilitate access to scholarship in Social Anthropology
for experts and non-experts worldwide. All entries are written and peer-reviewed
by leading academics."
