Seeding issues

Ahoy mateys,

I’ve recently been trying to set up a win10 machine for seeding, but have been having weird network issues shortly after I lock the screen and stop interacting with it. My internet connection goes down entirely for this PC, but not the whole network. Restarting fixes the issue.

I have already ensured power saving is off for my network card - does anyone have any other suggestions that I could try?

Thank you!

ANIMATEK,

I’ll give you the wrong answer: install TrueNAS or unRAID (or you fav Linux) and set up docker containers for all your needs.

datavoid,

One additional piece of information: I found this in my router settings, which could potentially be related. Should I be safe to disable this?

Any advice is appreciated :)

datavoid,

I’m trying to limit the number of connections in my torrent client now, I’ll post an update if it works

datavoid,

It seems like limiting connections didn’t really work (however, I didn’t try setting an upload rate limit, just connections)

I also tried turning on QoS settings in my router, which sounds like it will give my seeding PC lower priority. This seems to have stopped the random disconnecting… not entirely sure it’s ideal, however.

maybe your PC goes to sleep? check if you have automatic sleep after some time of no use enabled, it’s on by default

datavoid,

I’ve been using rdp without issue so I dont think that’s it - High power ftw

so after some research I found out that a locked machine goes to sleep after a short while even if you have automatic sleep set to never, but I don’t really know if that’s the problem you describe. anyways, here’s a fix for that: you have to set the DWORD value of this registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPowerPowerSettings238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F207bc4a2f9-d8fc-4469-b07b-33eb785aaca0 to 2. then in the advanced power options window set the sleep → system unattended sleep timeout to zero minutes so it never does it.

you have to change the registry key because by default this setting is not visible.
