I love the reflection part mostly,. Didn’t even notice the woman and probably wouldn’t have if it wasn’t mentioned here. Since I grew up and live around boats and the ocean it’s pretty normal for me so wouldn’t stir much emotion in me or lasting thoughts /impressions lol. I get more moved by mountains and waterfalls etc , thing we don’t have here. But overall nice shot, tranquil and the reflection the highlight for me

Rim_rocks,

Thanks, appreciate it

Noodle07,

Antibes, used to go around that place for summer, eating ice cream looking at the ships

Rim_rocks,

Nice :)

Composition wise: nice. No complaints except maybe the lady arsing around on the right. The image offers peace and quiet, interrupted by whatever she’s blabbering about.

Subject matter: it’s a row of boats, it doesn’t grip the viewer or leave them in amazement, or leave them thinking about the photo later. This photo doesn’t evoke much emotion in the viewer beyond “yea that’s cool”. Not that every photo has to do that. But as photographers the most important part of a photo is asking ourselves the question: what emotion or feeling do we want this photo to evoke in the viewer.

Process: praise for not cranking up the saturation. Looks like you may have chosen one of your DAM’s built-in make-it-look-like-old-film filters. I hope this fad ends soon and authentic colours become the hot preset trend. I will say, though, that this photo carries the filter very well. The soft overall coolness works well for the subject matter

Rim_rocks,

Thanks for your critique, appreciate it. Yes i totally overlooked the lady’s presence, and can’t un see now :) so this is a SOOC jpeg and i have not used any correction in the post whatsoever. Fuji has this something called film recipes which you can set it up in the camera and your jpegs will simulate the look of an yesteryear film. This one simulates a kodak portra 160 film or atleast tries to be one. I agree with you on the subject matter part though - what i wanted to showcase was the reflection of the yachts and how it fades or not visible as it goes further away. I guess it’s a bit subjective to extract emotion out of someone but i do agree that it’s not the strongest one, thank you for your time :)

Burn_The_Right,

Excellent photo! Makes me want to go on a three hour tour… A three hour tour…

Rim_rocks,

Ha ha, hope you get to do that, and thanks

spitfire,

Just a non photographer random internet guy who stumbled upon this post here, I dig it but I think there’s too much brightness/white going on. Especially with the top of the boats where it all sort of blends together. I’m also in a dark room at night getting ready for bed, so maybe it’s just my eyes not adjusting right 🤷🏻‍♂️

Still it’s a cool picture for sure

Rim_rocks,

Thanks for your feedback, appreciate it. I wanted to have that washed out look so a bit overexposed and this was SOOC image . Have a good night sleep mate, take care.
