On August 1, the LTFRB issues a show-cause order to Uber, after it finds the TNC has continued to accept new drivers into its system despite being ordered to stop doing so last July 26.

Nearly two weeks after it issued a show-cause order, the LTFRB suspends Uber’s operations for one month.

The ban was lifted early after the company paid a penalty of 190 million Philippine pesos (£2.88m; $3.72m). Uber also paid $5.87m in financial assistance to drivers.

Uber to pullout from Southeast Asia — report

Ride-hailing app Uber is expected to announce its agreement with rival Grab, which involves its exit from Southeast Asia, according to a report. Bloomberg sources said the deal covers all of Uber’s Southeast Asian operations, including Uber Eats. The US-based company, however, will have a stake of between 25 and 30 percent in the new combined business.
