It would be helpful to know OP’s use case for the UPS. Just need enough time to save your game/work? Want to keep your modem and router running so you can have wifi while the power is out?
Something to keep in mind is, without a massive battery and a very expensive UPS, you won’t be gaming in the dark for very long. Maybe 15 minutes max with most consumer-grade UPS. Even commercial-grade UPS only stay on long enough to gracefully shut down services. For anything more, a generator is best.
I love the fact that on the two ocassions I decide that I should get a previous-gen console secondhand once the current-gen one becomes mainstream enough (PS3 being the previous one), I come to know of an emulator for it. What I love even more is that its the same person coming up with the emulator both times.
I think the main issue is the price point. It’s a good card; it’s pushes fps, and it’s got stable drivers that work with DX9.
But it’s only marginally better than the 3060ti (10%), it’s only has 8gb of VRAM (which is already starting to matter) on a memory bus that’s only half as wide as it’s predecessor, and it’s has similar performance to the cheaper ($50+CAD at time of writing) 6700xt.
As for the 4070. If the 4060ti is a bad deal, the 4070 is atrocious.
The 4060ti is fine. But the price is a bitter dissapointment, and it seems to be part of a trend where Nvidea tests the limits of what the market will bear.
I was pretty heavily involved in the competitive scene for this game, playing in the 50v50 tournaments and a few of the 18v18 seasonals. I bailed about 8 months ago or so, right before Black Matter pulled out completely. Every time I see news about HLL it just winds up reaffirming that decision. It sucks, because I had a lot of fun with the game while I was playing, but the vision that drew me in is completely gone as far as I can tell.
Even though it’s a completely different game, playing The Finals beta earlier this year gave me the same feeling of cohesive vision from the developers.
Edit - This is the first time since I’ve quit using Reddit that I’ve really wanted to go back to check on things, because I’d love to see the subreddit melting down.
I’m cautiously optimistic but if this game sucks at least we can still play the old ones on PC via emulation. Last time I tested it Skate 3 worked with RPCS3 and Skate 2 worked with Xenia Canary.
