Quatta,

My opinion is the best translation program:

  1. Firefox Translations provides automated translation of web content. Unlike cloud-based alternatives, translation is done locally, on the client-side, so that the text being translated does not leave your machine. Firefox Translations was developed with The Bergamot Project Consortium. addons.mozilla.org/en-US/…/firefox-translations/?…
  2. Desktop version of Bergamot MT: translatelocally.comtranslateLocally is a privacy focussed machine translation application which translates content privately and securely on the user’s own computer.

Not open source but privacy friendly:

Brave Translate (Lingvanex) …brave.com/…/8963107404813-How-do-I-use-Brave-Tra…

barusu,

Lingva Translate is a privacy friendly front-end for Google Translate (similar to invidious for YouTube): github.com/TheDavidDelta/lingva-translate

Ex. pub instance: lingva.lunar.icu

14th_cylon,

www.deepl.com/translator has web interface and standalone application for any system

not open source, but works really well

Their privacy policy explicitly says that everything you put in it will be used for train their algorithms. So, if the only goal is avoiding Google as such - deepl is ok, if the goal is avoiding of “leaking” of your data - it is not a good alternative.

14th_cylon,

ok, that’s fair point
