@cohanf Quite an entertainer. What a nice show! Spectra worked great for me. Is that an open source “tube”? @nature

@jeanoappleseed @nature yes, it is one of the fediverse video hosting platforms- so, again, not mastodon, but working on ActivityPub, so it can interact with other platforms on fediverse. They use a different kind of hosting: peer to peer, which as I understand (which may not be well, so if anyone can add/clarify, please do!) distributes the bandwidth needed when folks view videos across the viewers networks (probably better to search peer to peer than try to make sense of my description..lol)

@nature a couple of still photos from the same time as the video in main post.
It was quite funny/cool to watch him standing boldly in the little clearing, wind blowing in his face ruffling his fancy dress, and very slowly strutting and turning before eventually heading back under the trees..

bird roughly the size of a small chicken, with feathers in a complex pattern of brown, grey, white and black. Overall it is well camouflaged in the woodland against fallen leaves etc, though right now he is showing off. His tail is raised and fanned out like a turkey's, showing a fancy pattern like part of a mandala underneath, and thick downy feathers on his backside. Around his neck is a black ruff that gave him his name-- in display the black feathers extend outward and upward framing the head. He is facing away from the wind, and standing in a small shaft of sunlight which shines through his tail feathers, on the forest floor covered in recently fallen leaves and some low grass.
