rah,

Looks like it might be a Russula.

overkill,

Possibly. Or an Amanita, or a whole range of other things… very hard to tell with just this one picture.

(My very uninformed, stab-in-the-dark guess would be Amanita vaginata actually.)

Cheers, I uploaded several but only this appeared. Will see if I can add more.

smeeps,

I think you can only add one image to the post itself but in the body of the post you can add more images using the image button (next to bold, italic etc)

rah,

Don’t think it’s an amanita because it doesn’t have spots on the cap (which I believe is one of the ways to distinguish). Could be wrong though.

smeeps,

Look up Orange Grisette or Tawny Grisette. Both amanitas, neither have spots.

For gilled mushrooms, a photo of the underside is usually necessary for ID. That said, I don’t think it’s one I know.

cabbagee,

It could be a kind of hygrophorus speciosus. The wiki says US but the entry for hygrophorus includes UK.

Goes without saying, but probably don’t eat it, especially not off internet identification.

Thanks, rest assured I won’t gub random funghi…just seem a new thing on a dog walk.

overkill,

Cool! Take a couple of pictures from different angles next time, and I’m sure people here will love to try and ID it. (Don’t be afraid to touch any mushroom, just tell small kids not to touch them.)
