Some questions from a new user
I- How to create a lemmy community?...
I- How to create a lemmy community?...
Hello!...
I suppose the community was unfortunately eliminated because of the politics of the instance where it is hosted, but I am not sure, if I directly go to the community there is nothing, it does not seem to exist anymore. And maybe it’s related to one of the post of a mod no long ago, which was asking someone to join as a mod...
Is there any easy way to switch to your home instance directly from a post to allow you to comment? I currently use “instance assistant for lemmy” but that only allows me to view the community from my own instance....
It’s easy enough to look at https://[instance]/instances and see which instances a particular instance has blocked....
I have been struggling with getting a docker setup of lemmy running on amr64 server and I almost got it going....

I have firefox configured to show no images because I’m on a limited connection. I think the only thing I’ve changed w.r.t. my usage habits recently is to start using Lemmy again. I’m chewing through bandwidth credit quite fast, like ¼—⅓gb in a day. Does it seem possible that Lemmy would cause that even when images...
Is there an easy way to migrate from one instance to another? I’d love to be able to move my subscriptions and profile settings at the very least.
There is an “offgrid” community on slrpnk.net. I would like to interact with that community from waveform.social. How can I create that community on waveform.social as a federated community, not as a separate new one?
I just recently noticed the following button in the comment section:...
I have setup the Lemmy backend but I can’t see the backend running just only json is displaying. Lemmy ui is also setup properly but with very limited features. See the attached screenshot of the backend. I run “cargo run” command to start the Lemmy Backend...
browsing through All has so much pro-fascist posts coming from lemmygrad that it drowns out all the other instances. I’m surprised they’re even federated by default but we should have an option to block instances from All if lemmy is deadset on federating with them just because they are fascists with a red and yellow flag…...
I made the huge mistake of upgrading on the same day of the new release. I had copied my inventory folder to a new pull of lemmy-ansible, checked out 1.3.0, and ran it with no errors. But refreshing the took a very long time to load. The closest issue I found was at github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/4244 but that’s a deep dive...
I'm trying to contact a user on lemmy, but can't dm them (it's not clear to me if this is a bug or if dms don't work across instances or software, but either way it's not working). My next workaround would be to ping them in a microblog post, but lemmy doesn't have a microblog section. Would a lemmy user receive a notification...
On the other hand, with desktop / iPad only the combined score between upvotes and downvotes is displayed....
How do you block a lemmy account from your community, when they’re on an instance your mod account can’t see??? There’s someone spamming my community from k.bin, but the posts aren’t showing up on sh.itjust.works so I’m not sure how to delete the posts or even block the account. Can someone help please?
Today, I tried (again) to install lemmy on my linux server. I tried in the past but the documentation was so lacking that I only encountered errors after errors just following exactly every command....
Hi, I have a bot that I use to mirror posts from one of my favourite Reddit communities onto Lemmy (!2visegrad4you), since there are not enough active users on lemmy for the community to be self-sufficient just yet. Still, it seems it was popular as the reposts were getting upvotes....
EDIT: I was able to solve this by going into the “change password” screen, right-clicking the “old password” field, clicking “inspect”, and changing maxlength=“60” minlength=“10” to maxlength=“60” minlength=“1”, thanks to the tip provided by Dandroid in the comments....
This is a weird one....
Has anyone else tried finding a lemmy.world community on lemmyverse.net? I don’t see any results for known communities that exist. I’m not sure if that is intentional or overlooked or what. The last I checked, that search was still being used to find communities that maybe haven’t been connected yet to a user’s home...

I think this means that something is wrong with lemmy-ui, but I’m not sure what....
I guess every post I’ve ever made is on a different instance than my home instance, and I’m unable to find them under my profile. How do you find posts you have made?
