Hello. I’m considering hosting a 1-person instance for my personal use. I’m trying to run on my own hardware, and I have used *nix for quite a long time and maintaining it wouldn’t be much of a problem. However, I’m not quite sure what kind of hardware should I run it on....
I really like lemmy and have stopped using reddit months ago. My only real gripe with lemmy is the title: when a conversation gets going in the comment section, that gets killed when the post is deleted, for whatever reason. I can’t even go back to a conversation and have a look at the comment threads to “dwell in...
I’ll admit I’ve drifted off Lemmy the last month or so… content was a bit repetitive and felt like just an echo chamber of the same ideas. I didn’t go back to Reddit, Reddit lost me to tiktok it turns out....
Here is our regular update that explains what we have been working on for the past two weeks. This should allow average users to keep up with development, without reading Github comments or knowing how to program....

I love the convenience of not having to create a password everywhere I need to be authenticated. It would be interesting to be able to use lemmy instead of feeding more information to these big corporations.

Only seen it the past hour or so but I’ve already set it as my default. It seems to work exactly as I’d hoped where smaller but no less interesting communities get their posts higher in my feed....
Pretty cool idea that leans into Lemmy’s ability to provide a rich and federated blogging platform. Essentially, with this tool, it seems, a lemmy post along with its comments can become static content on a static web page of your choice....
With debate raging in the Fedi about Threads’ federation, I was having a discussion with another user about the recently implemented instance blocks. They pointed out that, blocking an instance simply hides their content from your feed but doesn’t prevent your posts from being sent to them. Firstly, is this correct? Is this...
I hope that this post doesn’t come across as impatient, or demanding – I fully understand that Lemmy is donation funded, and is created out of the benevolence of the devs. I am merely curious if any announcement has been made in regards to a specific ETA. I am certainly excited for its release, but I also completely...
Disclaimer: I like the Fediverse, Lemmy, and the concept of federation, I’ve been here for two years, and I feel grateful towards people working on this platform - devs and admins and mods and everyone else. As such, I hope that what I’m voicing is interpreted as constructive criticism and food for discussion....
Every major social media is censoring anti-israel or pro-Palestine content. This may be a good opportunity to convince Arabs to move over to lemmy, where only we control the content moderation....
