#OnThisDay in #history - in 1695 Marie-Anne-Catherine Quinault was born in Strasbourg to a family of performers. She sang at the Academie Royale de Musique, gaining fame there and at the Comedie-Francaise. She continued singing and began composing for the Royal Chapel at Versailles. For her work, she was the only woman granted grand cordon of the Order of Saint Michael, by the intercession of the Duke of Orleans.
