#OnThisDay in #history - in 1876, Mary Ritter (later Beard) was born. An #American historian, archivist, suffragist, and activist, Mary started her career as a German teacher, and after moving with her husband to England, became friends with Emmeline Pankhurst, and learned about the plight of the working class. She returned to the US and campaigned, organized, and fought for the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment. She wrote several books focusing on women's history. #OTD#histodons@histodons
