Tomoe river in my bullet journal, which I got from a pen show.
Another notebook I use is an Apica, and it’s probably my favorite paper. It won’t show off shimmer and sheen like tomoe river, but it’s very smooth and has a fast dry time. For a lot of my inks, I find the long dry time of tomoe river to be inconvenient at times.
Anything but Moleskine because that bleeds and feathers heavily. Leuchtturm1917 adnd Clairefontaine daily, and a Cornell A5 weekly diary that seems to take virtually any ink despite being ‘only’ 70gsm. I veer towards 90gsm usually.
I mostly write with a keyboard and only the occasional small notes on paper.
I still carry around a small pocket notebook and a pen because it’s fun… Also if I see someone parking on a bike lane, I like to leave a note with some colourful language.
An all blacked out Nakaya D-17 long cigar variant (kuru-roiro, ruthenium) with Take-sumi. No clip, no embellishments. The most lowkey pen setup I have and my idea of the perfect daily writer.
Primary is a Preppy with Diamine Tropical Glow - I had forgotten how much I like that one. On the road with today, also:
Sailor PGS (Peach Haze)
Safari (Pink Sugar Beach)
Another Preppy, sporting Ancient Charm’s Mooring on the Quinuai River, which may be the shimmeriest purpole shimmer I own…
Another Safari, loaded with Vinta Julia
I’ve got a ton loaded that I alternate through. I’m finding I actually like inks I thought I hated, when I put them in different pens. Just means I have to try all possible combos eventually!
Where I can, of course. Right now I’ve got Tsutsuji in a Safari and Party Time in an Al Star. The rest are random combinations. I’ve yet to find a pen I like that plays well with Hana Ikada, or Pink Sugar Beach.
Thank you for voting, all! In the results, x = 1 vote, if someone voted for two different ones I took their first choice/the one they were leaning towards.
Pilot Iroshizuku Syo-Ro - it is basically a teal. I received it as a gift sample when buying from a reputable seller (arlepo) and it looks and behaves totally average for me. i’ve never owned any Pilot Iroshizuku or other premium series like Pelikan Edelstein and was super hyped about it. But eventually my expectations were not met. Honestly.
Could you post back when you actually have to clean/flush it? I’m particularly interested in how hard or how much time it takes to clean a piston filler.
