PSA: Lemmy votes can be manipulated
The best part of the fediverse is that anyone can run their own server. The downside of this is that anyone can easily create hordes of fake accounts, as I will now demonstrate....

FYI!!! In case you start getting re-directed to porn sites....
If they’re trying to attack all of Lemmy, or the whole Fediverse, they’re doing it wrong. lol...
Buying from an alternative ecommerce site usually sucks: you have to register for every website, enter your address, payment information and other information, they may leak data or store it improperly, you may not know the reputation of the website or business, you can’t easily compare products with other vendors and more....
I really want to nip threads in the bud. Besides blocking threads.net itself, defederate from any instances that do not. This is blatantly an EEE strategy and a united front is the only way to save what have been accomplished. Here is how Indivudals can do it on mastodont as an example to follow....
Ugh.

With the vlemmy situation ongoing, i feel like it would be useful to put this here (i did not make either of these tools)...
Lemmy.world has somehow decided to become to extreme defenders of “copyright” and decided they will now delete posts that contain archive links in an absurd move that not even corporate websites like Reddit do. And I will say that it’s really strange to watch lemmy face nearly identical issues that Mastodon did when it was in a similar development stages. (Though, some of the drama thus far have been...
Pretty straight question....
For those that have poked around other fediverse stuff beyond Lemmy, and been around the spaces awhile, what’s stuck out to you as stumbling blocks, or basic user experience fumbles? Which parts do you think may be technical, and which may be cultural?
Hey all! I’m interested in creating an account on mastodon, and am looking to build up a list of people to follow. Let me know who your must follows are!
I just discovered baraza.africa, which is an African focused instance....
I’ve noticed a lot of people complain that niche communities aren’t really all that present here or are difficult to find. Having some consolidated in specific instances is very helpful for discovery as well as spreading the federation around....
Things have been incredibly unstable there. Until things stabilise, they should force the traffic elsewhere.
There’s been an ongoing debate about whether communities should combine or stay separate. Both have significant disadvantages and advantages:...
Why do the instances keep going down? It makes me think that this is not a reliable social network, but the alternatives are not as good.
