While this absolutely sucks for anyone getting the axe, this is hardly surprising. Bosch is quite heavily involved in the development of combustion engines, and the need to reduce overcapacity in this dying field is well known.

We see a need to adjust up to 1,500 personnel capacities

“Adjust personnel capacities” is a new one. Loving the corporate newspeak

CJOtheReal,

Yeah it literally means “we built our next factory in China”

Fucking bastards.

garden_boi,

No, it doesn’t. It means “we’re unfit for the industry’s transition to electric vehicles”.

CJOtheReal,

Bro Bosh is literally a electrical motor building company.

ebikefolder,

And a company building injection and ignition systems for combustion engines, which soon won’t be needed anymore.

WallEx,

Yeah, everyone that Is buying an ebike wants a Bosch motor. Also basically the same goes for EVs. And also a lot of electronics, like abs is made by Bosch.

The Schwieberdingen plant develops combustion engines. Certainly not relevant for EVs. The other site in Feuerbach is for logistics and office stuff, so the first thing they cut.

The simple truth is that an electric drive train is much simpler then a combustion engine one. That means less workers.

WallEx,

Sure, but Bosch has always been deeper entrenched in electric motors.
