@Funktious @kimlockhartga @bookstodon I just finished North Woods. It is a remarkable book. It is a climate change book with a twist; it really unfolds the impact of human interaction with nature focusing on one forest in Massachusetts and beginning with how it was at the dawn of European contact. The author moves the reader through the arc of generations to today and even our future, a kind of genealogy of the woods through the 17th century to now. The characters that build a house, work the land, are quirky, often weird, and not always sane. The apples are a central motif by which the whole story can be known. To me, the book details a tragedy and I was very sad when I finished it.
