One of my earliest shots before I got my telephoto lens
Taken 08/12 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom (sorry - not traveling to Asia anytime soon). Quite fitting as someone mentioned to me these birds look like the henchmen for a Disney villain! They build interesting hanging nests and I find their sheen and eye color to be eye-catching.
Also bonus dragonfly in the picture!
Doing its best Moe Howard impersonation.

Trogons are incredibly fun to find and photograph. This is the only individual black-headed trogon I came across this year.
I’ve had a lot of great birding days this year, but little compares to the sheer awe at watching 100,000+ snow geese lift off at once. Previously, I’d only seen three individual snow geese. I hope I get to experience this beauty and feeling again soon....
I want to help get this community active, so I’ll be posting some of my favorite bird pics from this year. I noticed this little one just 20 feet away from me while on a cacao farm in central Honduras.

A Eurasian Wren being true to his German name “Fence King” (Zaunkönig) and sitting on a wooden fence post while singing his signature and very loud song.
As seen at the Elliston Puffin Viewing Site. Phenomenal time there, I loved seeing these little goof balls go about their days.
I always take a walk around my office during lunch. Finally managed to see and also record a firecrest. Such a tiny but cool-looking bird!
One of the artificial lakes here (Bielefeld, Germany) has been drained, presumably to have it cleaned....
