could guys explain to me the importance of storage (cloud,container, etc.) and also synching?

My whole life, I never really interactively dealt with cloud or container storage, except the forced upon google drive. I never really accumulated a collection of pics or documents, idk just never a concern. But I read about the importance of secure storage and synching. Are there specific things on my system that should most definitely be saved in offsite storage? Because if its just personal stuff like pics and documents, then I don’t even have to worry about all that, right?

There’s two parts to the file system. The part you can get back and the part you can’t.

I’ve seen people make full file system back ups. That’s unnecessary, since you can just reinstall your os at any given moment.

But you pictures, documents, and saved games are gone in the event of catastrophe. You don’t want to be caught with your pants down.

Not really theres other things that may need backups off the top of my head: Account credentials / 2fa seeds or recovery codes , software licenses and anything that can be digitalized thats important to you like copies of legal, medical or property paperwork (i dont know how legally binding they will be but its better than nothing)

You used so many fuzzy terms together. For example, what do you call s container in this context?

Anyways, if you do not sync Transfer data between devices, if you are ok that all info from your phone can be lost or made public - you do not need to care about storage.
