We can be very different from eachother, just like the NT folks. My brother in law, who is undiagnosed Asperger's, is acting the right wing, ill informed jerk. He's going to get his ass beat by someone who takes is "they went woke" comments as racist. I mean, isn't it racist.
I had a different approach in life entirely. Both sets of parents are Republican voters. It got so much worse in 2016. "Never vote for anyone without an "R" next to their name!", my FIL said. My parents are more subtle. The difference is that I was not coddled. My parents used to be good Republicans. (Better? Whatever.) They taught me to work on things to get them done myself. My mom has always been the type of person to say, "Respect women." My dad, too.
I've seen so many of us not be able to do anything without help. The autistic savants can't survive without help. They will be taken advantage of. They will be manipulated. We have to watch for them. Sometimes...
@actuallyautistic ...I really do think my BIL is a complete idiot. He does not try to see both sides, like I do. In the wilds, he would die. Maybe it is my thing, to be a survivalist. Like others, who have an intense focus, this may be mine. I still can't understand how some people can't see others harming others isn't bad. My wife is more like me. She is independent. She rolls her eyes at her family. I just don't get it. Do I not get it because I don't fully understand my, or others', ASD nature? Why is my BIL siding with evil douche bugs? Why is he so easily manipulated?
I strive to educatw myself. Maybe it was because of being bullied. Is this my revenge for my treatment? "I'll show them!" He was coddled and I was not. That seems to be the big difference. I'm not trying to be mean. I am blunt and logical when I am not over emotional.
