Camus was quoting someone else.

"In conclusion, Blanche Balain should receive credit for the remark recorded by Albert Camus in his notebook in 1943. [...] The comment has often been incorrectly attributed to Camus."

She was an actress and a poet, and was Camus' mistress for a while.

@ashleyspencer @actuallyautistic it's a good quote. It came from one of Albert Camus notebooks, but he attributed the quote to actress and poet Blanche Balain: "B. B. ' Personne ne se rend compte que certaines personnes dépensent une force herculéenne pour être seulement normales' " #bookstodon
