Oh, so it’s really not all that big at all. Similar in base size to a riding crop. I was honestly expecting it to be bigger, despite looking tiny.
That said, something tells me this was for disciplinary use against their own people… it doesn’t seem to have much practical combat value being so small (but idk, I’ve never been involved in medieval-style melee combat, and hope to continue that streak).
Like it would certainly hurt, and probably break skin despite the rounded rather than spiked tips, but unless you were to just run around the battlefield giving people welts and rubbing poop on to cause infections…
You might be surprised! Solid metal weights can be surprisingly vicious, even when small. I imagine one with weights this small wasn't much good against armored targets, but you could probably crack some unarmored guy's bones pretty gruesomely with it.
