Chrono Trigger! Great plot, and it swaps the slow burn that brings a lot of JRPGs down for a shorter story with a ton of replayability. Gameplay and characters are also great!
Are any of us good people? I think there is a level of selfishness in wealth that all of us engage in, and so I'm not willing to condemn people for having wealth that seems disproportionate to us. Is John Famousactor a bad person because he lives in a mansion worth ten times the average American's? Is Jake Factoryworker a bad person because he lives in a house worth ten times the world average? What matter of suffering can be alleviated in developing countries by our sacrifices in developed countries? At what level are our sins equal? Is it a matter of principle? Proportion?
The vast majority of people who 'make' millions do so by exploiting others, or by exploiting society to keep it, though, so fuck 'em.
Your scale is off by several orders of magnitude. We're not talking about someone with ten times the average wealth, we're talking about someone with hundreds of thousands, or millions, times.
Someone who has 100,000 times the average (median) wealth of a US resident would have more than 12 billion dollars. There are only a few people in the world with that kind of money. Even the richest person alive doesn't have a million times the average wealth (120 billion).
By and large, if you're talking about 'millionaires', you're talking about people who have 100-200 times the average wealth. Which, not irrelevantly, is comparable to the average wealth of an American to the average wealth of someone from South Sudan.
I'm not playing apologist for the ultra-wealthy. It's pretty clear that, as a class, they're fucking our society. But ownership of 100-200 times the wealth of the average American is no more wrong than ownership of 100-200 times the wealth of the average South Sudanese. What makes wealth exceptionally wrong is the way one acquires and maintains it, not its existence/possession.
My personal all time favorite is hands down Halo 2. At that time my family only had dial up and I only ever played Halo 1 or 2 single player. Well one day I make a new friend and stay over at his house and they had high speed internet, Xbox live, and Halo 2. It was the first game I ever played online and it blew my mind. I remember going home and begging my parents for high speed internet and Xbox live but it was a hard sell especially because at the time they didn't mind dial up. They eventually switched after a few months because they got tired of the phone line being tied up lol
It seems like they applied this retroactively as well. I remember my account (this one, from lemmy.world) having four reputation points, and I barely had any activity yesterday. It’s now over 900.
Not that I really get to see it unless I really seek it out.
@megane_kun Afaik reputation isn't tracked separately but calculated on the fly with upvotes minus downvotes (and boosts minus downvotes before). That would make it necessarily retroactive.
I hear a lot of people talk about Soul Blazer and Terranigma when talking about this trilogy but IoG was always my favourite. I still have the soundtrack on my phone after all these years.
I use Mastodon primarily and visit Kbin separately. I read and comment to the whole threadiverse from Kbin.social, and all of Mastodon from my instance page on Mastodon. I follow my kbin.social account from Mastodon so I can see my boosts and boost them on Mastodon.
At my wedding my mother in law insisted that we do the Tarentella. Allegedly it is a traditional Italian dance. Not being remotely Italian i said ok whatever. When the music came on everyone looked at her to show us what to do. She didn't know how to do it either. "There was just always someone else who knew how to do it!"
