These are from accounts with names like Blacktivists, Back the Badge, Secure Borders, Army of Jesus and so on. Every division covered

I feel like there's actually a grain of truth to the statement "republicans and democrats are functionally indistinct," though.

It feels like we're on a bus, headed directly towards a cliff, and we can vote to floor it (R) or obey the speed limit (D), but what we really need is for somebody to turn the steering wheel, and neither Rs nor Ds have been giving us that option in my lifetime. Even when they've campaigned entirely on it.

Like twitter before it, Mastodon is not a good platform for nuanced discussion, only for dunking on people you disagree with. I have a response to this, but it won't fit here, and I'm so so tired of arguing with people who assume I'm talking in bad faith.

How many of those have been stopped, or even shrunk a little bit?

Edit: Attacking the two party system is not the same thing as defending its worst aspect.

I can sure name a ton that just stopped getting press coverage instead of being dealt with
(Refugee detention, covid, unemployment, erosion of worker protections, dismantling of the USPS...)

When I was around 10 years old, Clinton was in office, and the social security administration enacted a new policy of giving bonuses to any employee who got someone kicked off for fraud.

Shortly thereafter, the SSA determined that my father, who had ALS, was ineligible for disability, because he had a life insurance policy.

People like me are angry because we have been directly harmed by the failure of the Democratic party to be effective at reversing the damage of the Rs
