Me too, they are far too quick to bring out the perma ban. My 10 year old account went from a minor subreddit ban (for asking why a mod banned someone else) to global perma ban within 12 hours. In fairness I reported the mod and said he’s a neckbeard but that shit isn’t worth of global perma lol.
Overall, I think this is good news for lemmys future tbh
Lemmys users have the same habits as redditors. The same jokes are recycled here for upvotes too. It’s the same site but upvote numbers are divided by 50
In my opinion this is a problem with the internet in general, younger people tend to crave attention and often receive the most online because of the anonymous platform it gives them.
As I approach 35 I find myself half writing comments and deleting them because I don’t fucking care. This time I will press send
I’m convinced that any “new” internet protocol will eventually fall victim to capitalistic human greed in the exact same way. Human greed is what causes the world to be what it is now and that greed still exists in a strong percentage of people today (if given the opportunity to exploit it)
