Is there any value in pursuing a potential autism diagnosis as an adult, if a person gets along well enough in life and isn't interested in finding community?

  1. I can recreate particular details from things I've directly seen, but not the whole image, and not from reading or descriptions. Instead, it's all very vague and shadowy. Or I'm substituting things I've seen as stand-ins that match the word associations.

For example, in a book I'm reading a character is described as tall, lanky, old, with a mustache, and a sheriff's deputy, so I'm picturing Sam Elliott. Probably ignoring other details

@ninokadic @philosophy @philosophyofmind @cognition and most mental pictures are a collection of stills, not in motion. And always partial. Like a quick sketch, and often grayscale not vivid/colour

@ninokadic @philosophy @philosophyofmind @cognition my spouse is an artist, and she definitely is better at visualizing details. Our grade school kid seems to be able to visualize more like her.
