Love that the nose cone looks like it’s held on with black tape.

Can anyone translate the love letter written on it?

Duly noted.

I ate so much beef stroganoff yesterday that my sweat smells like it today. (seriously 😅)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polylactic_acid Is the most commonly used printing material. I would rather eat that than just about any other “food safe” traditional plastic in my kitchen.

There are other concerns about the actual food safeness of printed objects because of their physical structure being a harbor for bacteria and such, but ingestion isn’t one of them.

Old article but I’m sure the science hasn’t changed: hackaday.com/…/3d-printing-fumes-new-science/

Basically, if you are printing with PLA you are probably pretty safe. But I still don’t think I would sit in a tiny closet and hotbox with my printer. An open window or carbon filters on your HVAC are probably more than sufficient. And PLA is the most popular type of filament, so you aren’t limited much there. Unless you need higher temperature parts to withstand sun or car interiors. Then you are getting into materials you want to start looking into better ventilation for.

If you are interested at all, the hobby has never been cheaper to get into. <$200 gets you a printer and several spools of filament to learn with.

Yeah, luckily mine still has both, it’s an older model I found as new old stock. The one it replaced was network only, and I had to have a long talk with the router about never letting it play outside.

Countdown until someone posts that you are already dead from bacteria in the layer lines.

I so need to do this for my toolboxes. I know it would take a long time, but it would end up saving me so much more time.

I would never let a printer be connected to the outside internet unless there was a specific remote printing option I needed that couldn’t be done over remote desktop.

I love my Brother, that thing has been a tank, but it’s never going to get to know the world exists out of my office.

Cops have a terrifying way of “knocking.”

It’s supposed to be, it’s psychological. But you are not legally obligated to open it. If they have a good enough reason to be there, they will let themselves in. Otherwise keep your mouth shut, the lights off, and out of sight so you don’t give them that reason; and they can fuck off.

Not to dismiss what happened here. But who is still opening their door when random strangers bang on it?
