scrubbles, to moviesandtv in The studios thought they could handle a strike. They might end up sparking a revolution
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Making any strike illegal is so weird to me, like it goes against the idea of a strike in my mind. Isn’t the entire point that they don’t want you to do it, it’s the power a group of people have over the tiny elite?

The best protest would be a blank canvas.

Using reddit at all, even in protest, is what they want. Traffic is traffic to them. We should strive to be perfectly content over here.

Always gotta have the “we don’t go there, tis a silly place” area of a new social media

scrubbles, to asklemmy in Hey lemmings, we should do a lemmy place to compete with r/place.
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

No, traffic for reddit, even negative traffic, is still traffic. They are only doing this to draw people further into the walled garden

@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Yes. That was the joke of it all. That a useless business rule that came down made developers more focused on hitting a metric rather than building useful tests. Thank you for explaining my own story to me.

That’s a great point. The entire last 2 months have been continuous feedback sessions. The Ama with spez is full of well upvoted feedback. There was a simple 5(?) item list with direct feedback and requests during the blackout with steps on how to accomplish it.

Reddit inc proved in the last to months what they do with feedback

Honestly yeah… makes sense. You tell me that Cheryl in customer service needs internet

You’re welcome to give all the feedback you want, just don’t expect anything to happen because of it.

scrubbles, to asklemmy in Why do sites disable pasting in password fields?
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Most don’t even copy it to clipboard, they’ll inject it to the dom directly

Love that they intentionally blur the 1080p image too. I love 4k but the difference isn’t that huge, that’s an SD image next to 4k.

All around shitty. Charge for quality or device count. Not both.

scrubbles, to moviesandtv in SAG-AFTRA Strike Photos: Actors Hit The Picket Lines Including Rachel McAdams, Debbie Allen, Susan Sarandon & Bette Midler
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

It’s awesome to see some the top 5% of earners jump to the picket lines as well to support everyone. They could easily sit back and say it doesn’t affect them as much because they’re in demand and have enough money, but they’re jumping right in so their co stars get what they deserve too

scrubbles, to moviesandtv in SAG-AFTRA Can Bar Non-Member Social Media Influencers From Guild Admission If They Promote For Studios During Strike
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

The only people who bother to comment on sites like Deadline I’d say are out of touch, specifically older people. Older people, who throughout their life, have been fed the narrative that unions are big leeches that only want your precious dues money and serve no purpose other than to hurt you, which they just eat up straight from their corporate boss’ mouths

scrubbles, to selfhosted in Audio server recommendation?
@scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech avatar

Free I recommend jellyfin and use finamp, but I don’t know it will have all the features you need (yet).

If you’re willing to shell out some money then Plex does all of what you need, and it’s hard for me to think of anything that comes with PlexAmp, which requires PlexPass (subscription or one time lifetime purchase). The organization of the music is really nice too, however I run everything through Picard musicbrainz first anyway
