I’ve seen this several times in my career. Companies with enough mobile engineering that they form a “platform team” to build frameworks and tooling to be consumed by the product engineering teams.
These teams end up wedging their projects between the operating system and product engineering and provide their own abstractions around OS features. /1

I was shocked to learn that my Figaro is absolutely dark from the sides at night (save for its turn signal repeaters). That would not fly here AT ALL. There needs to be an amber light up front and a red light in back to indicate its position and orientation from the side at night.
