@Thumptastic @actuallyautistic it starts with an offer, an alternative to X, at the end of the day, it's a combination of both an offer, moments or periods of weakeness, gradual abandonnent of critical thinking & discernment until what would be completely nuts becomes the new normal, even gradual painful daily abuse becomes, just the way it is, the price to pay for X,
Add to that gaslighting, love bombing, manipulation & you have a recipe being used around the world in many different areas.

@FrightenedRat @Thumptastic @actuallyautistic oh it's without a doubt very very difficult, even more so when her new identity and feeling of belonging to X or Y is entirely crafted on the cult social graph, stick definitely does not work, maintaining dialog/contact will be draining and cognitive dissonance will put you both on drifting parts, sadly, the only things that can open glimpse of opportunities is when the cult victim have doubts, seeds of more questioning that lead to exit.

@FrightenedRat @Thumptastic @actuallyautistic it's when the seed of doubts, of questioning flourish into bigger doubts that you'll have the opportunity to gently lean her towards a voluntary detachment, then exit of the cult swarm. The more investment she puts in (money, emotional, time, social) the harder it is to pull out.. But if you maintain contact, at some point you can become a pole from which she feels safe to attach and then you can pull her out gently by providing what she needs

@FrightenedRat @Thumptastic @actuallyautistic something better : to me, ultimately, the bigger issue here is societal.

I posit that when societal or personal (or both combined) breakdowns are ongoing, a lot of individuals will try to find ways to fill the void, the need of belonging, security, sense-making by joining these groups.. So the more society breakdowns & isolate/atomise individualities the more swarm of people will try to coalesce into groups to create meaning, even out of lies.

@FrightenedRat @Thumptastic @actuallyautistic you don't indeed, actually Amanda Montell explain it very well on the chapter about social media and weaponization of identity politics to aggravate the situation, people feel pressured by their peers to join a swarm, the impact technology is having on "group thinking" is hundreds times worst than in the past.

Today you can join a cult without even knowing it, without physically being in daily contacts with their adepts.

I just looked at the code, this seems ready to be deployed as a Docker container which is right in my skill set :) I'll do this tomorrow, time to Zzz here :)

Already has the Dockerfile etc..

I'm willing to host from free any test solution the community find useful and needed. But after having a look at the mostly abandoned code I'm wondering if I'm not losing time.
The question is, do we have currently a developer working on a maintained test suite ?

@healyn @Gargron jokes work better on socials if you give a hint it's a joke. Text doesn't really convey that. I thought your "joke" was offensive and with reason. Nothing indicates it's a joke. Also it's a bad joke if it is one?
