ptrckstr, to ukraine in Russian "participant of the SMO" was not allowed to enter Kazakhstan because he had a Z-sticker on his car. He is furious and complains about Russia being oppressed.

It’s sad just how brainwashed this dude is.

ptrckstr, to asklemmy in What is the cost of housing in your area?

I guess you mean how affordable? Wage vs costs? In my experience for most of western Europe: you can buy something if you’re well paid, have 2 years of salary in your bank account to bridge the mortgage gap, and a ton of luck.

Anything can be abused, but you can also build proper safeguards.

You can have a local banlist supplemented by a shared banlist containing these CSAM individuals for example.

I’m afraid the fediverse will need a crowdsec-like decentralized banning platform. Get banned one platform for this shit, get banned everywhere.

I’m willing to participate in fleshing that out.

Edit: it’s just an idea, I do not have all the answers, otherwise I’d be building it.

ptrckstr, to asklemmy in When will all cable companies Only provide internet access?

You won’t get an attractive price for internet only. Those companies spend tons of money on broadcasting licenses, and as long as they do, you’re going to pay part of that bill, whether you have a TV subscription or not.

ptrckstr, to asklemmy in How many hours a day do you actually work?

As a software developer I do not count sitting in meetings as productive work. Maybe 2-3h a day on average I’m left alone, in a state of flow and am really getting stuff done.

ptrckstr, to asklemmy in What book(s) has changed your life?

The pig that wants to be eaten - Julian Baggini. It’s a book full of fun philosophical thought experiments. Enriched my worldview, and sparked my interest for philosophy.

ptrckstr, to technology in A Tribute to Bram Moolenaar, The Maestro Behind Vim Code Editor

This man has left behind a concept that could continue to be used for generations. More than anyone could hope to achieve in a lifetime. What a legend.
