I hit a bit of a slump in October and November, but I’m on the upswing… currently reading The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon.

Books read in August… a mostly blah month… HOWEVER, The Centre and Vampires of El Norte were both excellent!

I’ve been in a bit of a slump lately with so many mediocre-at-best books. This month seems to be looking up, though… here’s hoping!

Oops, I’m behind… these are the i read in July. Lots of weird ones. The Battle Drum was fantastic… can’t wait for the third book!

Untamed Shore was wonderful, because Silvia Moreno-Garcia is an amazing storyteller.

The Poet X had me SOBBING.

@themostroom @bookstodon Untamed Shore is completely different from both of those! It’s very noir-esque.

The thing about SMG is that she takes her time and tells a story. Her books are all paced slowly - she takes ample time setting the scene and showing us who the characters are.

I know that I have to be in the right mood to read her books - if I’m not into it, I’ll set it aside and read something that gets up and moving more quickly.

Ultimately, SMG’s books never disappoint!
