so, I learned that #threads can not only get your posts, even if you blocked them (via different servers that didn't and that store your posts cus people there may follow you or interact with you), they can also monetize those posts by showing ads next to them. Thus making money off of you. Put that together with all the genocidal and fascist and other harmful activity. It makes me think that the #enshittification of the #fedi has begun. The cycles seem to move faster and faster. I love it here and I've had many elightening convos and beautiful connections. Today I read that 41% of servers have blocked threads. Maybe there is still hope.
Esp. the neurodivergent community on here is the best I've ever experienced. @actuallyautistic
@samid@actuallyautistic Please let me know of of a good one that does block #NSAbooks / #StasiBook aka. "#Meta" nee #Favebook because I just found out @stux doesn't do that anymore and I feel like I've been backstabbed with a Type 30 bayonet and it's tip is sticking out of my chest...
How to you manage to spend quality time with your neurotypical partner, without draining yourself and not turn into a freaking control person about « what and when » if what they like is spontaneity ?
@nemo I mean, it is a "suicide cult" by virtue of glorifying "martyrdom" and rather let everyone (else) die except them to concede.
Just because they don't send kids with explosive strapped to them (anymore) into the streets to catch a bullet doesn't mean they may not do this again...
The only thing that seperates #Hamas from #Daesh is that they've yet to enslave, publicly execute and crucify their hostages and PoWs...
Remember: At peak-efficiency taxis literally only.stop and turn off engines to offload/onload passengers change drivers, refuel or do unavoidable maintenance.
A strange part of being autistic is getting in trouble for your facial expressions, tone of voice, not inferring things you haven’t been told, & somehow implying things you haven’t implied. It can feel like people get offended by stuff that’s unavoidable & beyond our control.
You're basically getting in trouble for what others are reading in between the lines because they're making assumptions that are only valid for the people they're used to dealing with.
it's really infuriating and the reason I hate peopleing and prefer tech by a long shot.
Because unlike humans, a shell/terminal doesn't question my inpit, doesn't tone-police my typing speeds or annoys me to take a break when I make a typo...
It just does what it's ordered to and will only complain if it can't do that!
A big part of being autistic for me is being very intentional with my word choices in order to say what I mean and mean what I say.
To follow that up I then start having a bunch of people claim I said something I absolutely did not because they chose to add additional meanings they made up themselves.
I've been talking about how AI will directly lead to an Idiocracy (2006) scenario for some time, but today's update to the "can you melt eggs?" saga is as clear an illustration of how as I think it's possible to ever have.
Quora's AI answers made up the melting point of eggs, and then Google picked it up and responded affirmatively that you can indeed melt eggs.
Then people wrote articles about how stupid it is that Google says eggs can melt. Then Google fixes the answer.
Then Google ingests an article about how stupid it is that Google says you can melt eggs, and suddenly Google starts answering affirmatively again that you can melt eggs, citing the article about how stupid Google is for thinking you can melt eggs.
Remember that poll #Patreon did where creators could vote for a variety of features?
At the bottom of the barrel were crypto currencies, still a hot topic at the time of the poll. #Crypto was the only feature that received an overwhelming amount of "please don't" votes. No other feature even had double digits of "please don't". But guess what Patreon still offers anyway:
When you say "go to the doctor" to an Autistic person, you won't necessarily realise what a difficult position they are placed in.
So often we are told that if our problems were "that bad" we would see a doctor.
The truth is that healthcare is inaccessible to many Autistic people for a vast array of reasons. From ableism through to doctors who think studies on the general population should inform the treatment of minority bodies.
