Did you see that Wired story that claimed that Google was rewriting search queries to improve monetization? Wired has retracted the story.

@jerry I know I am already primed to distrust Google, so I read that story and thought, sounds about right. Pretty hard to set the record straight afterwards when everyone (including me) is all “vibes > facts”

Thinking of all those depressing studies that show substantive corrections never get the same SM traction that the flawed original stories get. 😢

We live in amazing times. In the span of 5 minutes, I signed up for my employer’s telemedicine service (teledoc) and saw a doctor from my bed and had a prescription called in to a local pharmacy for paxlovid.

It must be a money printing machine for doctors.

@jerry I’m glad you’re doing the Paxlovid thing. My wife started it several hours after she woke up with symptoms and tested + on a home test, started feeling better the next day, and was pcr- 5 days after starting her course.

Another big plus to Paxlovid is that it has been shown to reduce your odds of long Covid: https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/06/health/paxlovid-long-covid-va-study/index.html This is true if you are vaxxed or not. (The other two proven long-Covid odds reducers are vaccination and Metformin.)
