@geraineon A lot of apps for masto at least will auto clip long posts.
To me though, a long post is 3+ paragraphs. That's just me though. I'd rather read everything shorter than that in one go and not have to suffer an extra click.
@geraineon No, sorry, I explained poorly. If something is around 1-3 paragraphs, I'd prefer no CW but in one post. I still don't like CWs for long posts in general though. Especially since the interfaces I use will auto clip longer posts.
@xieliansbignaturals@geraineon I actually agree with this. I dislike using CWs for things like long posts and other trivial things. People overuse it and I don't want to auto-expand things so I end up just straight up not caring enough to open a CW. Part of that is my pettiness and aggravation at people using it for ANYTHING though.
@geraineon@xieliansbignaturals I use Phanpy on desktop and Megalodon on mobile. They both shorten long posts automatically.
It depends on the spoiler tbh. If someone is getting in depth for several posts in a row and often, then a tag makes sense. If it's here or there then a CW is fine.
I think my problem with using CW for long posts is that it isn't like an LJ cut or Tumblr read more to me. There's functionally no way to actually preview the post like those mechanics.
