Sometimes it is difficult for me not to bring up a special interest in conversation. And I can’t read when others aren’t really interested in hearing about it.
@autism101@actuallyautistic I thought the woman's special interest in this meme was the man, who is the life of the party (of two lol) because he was talking to someone off camera. 🤔 I was a bit surprised she was "bored" according to the Alt text. 😅
Exceptions are:
-if I repackage it in a script as something entertaining
-work, since there's little negative ramifications for sounding like I know how to do my job 😅
Are you limited in what foods you can eat? I was considered a picky eater when I was growing up. I still habitually eat the same things over and over again.
@autism101@actuallyautistic I am still baffled by how so many neurotypicals seem to be eager to stomach anything that doesn't cause physical pain.
Like, where's the neurotypicals who have A Food They Don't Enjoy? Who can like one food more than another?
I've been considered legitimately strange for not liking A Food. Not even so much a specific food as much as just... having the Capacity to form a Negative Opinion on a food thing.
Have you ever been told that you need to “open up more”? I didn’t understand what that meant for a long time. And it never went well for me when I did.
@dyani@autism101@actuallyautistic As a family with both autism and hearing issues, I always assumed it was because modern series have more dynamic range and more background noise. Of course I've always had problems following things like song lyrics.
Flat screen speakers have terrible range and terrible dynamics. Virtually every model misses a lot of lows that dedicated speakers don't miss. Most dialogue is within the lower frequencies. This is mostly a size tradeoff, low frequency wants more depth on the box but that equals a less flat flat screen. And bonus for them, now they sell you the quality speaker separately.
