Have you ever considered that the Prime Directive is not only not ethical, but also illogical, and perhaps morally indefensible?

StarTrek.website is back online and has restored full functionality!

Thank you for everyone’s patience while we were migrating hosts . I know I said “a few hours” and it turned out to be over a day. Clearly I need to work on my Scotty estimates. During transport the team found a backlog of extremely low effort memes caught in the pattern buffer and we had to go through the copies one by one...

Fully functional, but still just the one technique.

I really don’t think the inclusion of Kirk should be considered a “gimmick”. There was no stunt-casting, nor were the episodes in which he appeared particularly gimmicky (well, okay, “Subspace Rhapsody” was a gimmick episode, but in a way that wasn’t structured around Kirk specifically).

Like it or hate it, it’s clear to me that the producers are including Kirk because they think it’s worth exploring the character at this point in his career. I wouldn’t call that a gimmick.

If the news is to be believed, somewhere between slim and none.

I actually like the [Deadline piece] (deadline.com/…/barry-diller-wga-actors-strike-med…) on this interview better.

Netflix induced — I would say to some degree seduced — all these companies to go into streaming to lose huge amounts of money to try and build a competitive streaming service. They degraded their investment in cable because of the effect of Netflix on cable. They degraded their investment in their broadcasting arms.

Bob Bakish seems to have largely flown under the radar during the strikes - Disney, Warner, and Netflix seem to be taking up all the oxygen in the room.

I really hope part of the plan is to find a way to depoliticize the whole process so this clown show doesn’t happen again.

I’ve never thought it was that bad - I haven’t given them any money in years though I do get a small monthly credit through my lifetime subscription.

They’ve really embraced mega bundles over the last few years, though - if anything, I’d call it macrotransaction hell.

It was the 60s - buttholes looked different back then.

Reminder: constructive criticism is specific, clear, descriptive, and not framed in such a way as to shame those who like something that you don’t.

Does anyone at the Institute know you’re missing?

User flair is unfortunately not a thing on Lemmy, but this is as good a time as any to confirm that we have independently verified that OP is Aaron J. Waltke, writer/producer of Star Trek: Prodigy.

Paramount+, the streamer, doesn’t want it on their platform, for whatever reason.

CBS Studios, the production house, wants to sell it to a different platform.

They’re both subsidiaries of Paramount Global, but they have different priorities.

Again, CBS Studios is a subsidiary of Paramount, and they don’t want it off the air and are actively shopping it around, so it’s not as simple as you say.

While some server meta is allowed here, complaints about specific mod actions are not. If you were truly interested in the answer to your question, you would contact a moderator directly.

You can consider this a warning.

Who…who would you expect to invite you to a Paramount event?

ValueSubtracted,
@ValueSubtracted@startrek.website avatar

The Paramount press site is…not as reliable as you would think. It’s not uncommon for sites like Trekmovie to run episode previews that obviously came from press releases, while the actual Paramount site lags behind by a day or two.

Getting horribly murdered was by far the most interesting thing to ever happen to Icheb. If anything, they should resurrect him and do it again.

How Many Star Trek Episodes Pass the Bechdel Test? (TOS to ENT) | The Mary Sue (www.themarysue.com)

I found this after reading and responding to this post here about early Trek fans’ prejudicial negative reaction to TNG. One of my responses (see here) was to point out that any fans of the progressiveness of Trek ought to have been mindful of the room for improvement over TOS, with female representation being an obvious...

Could you please point me in the direction of the goalposts? I swear you had them right here a moment ago…
