The core argument of “it’ll reduce the quality of films” seems to be nonsense. Unless I’m missing a crucial piece of context here. Filmmakers are already heavily incentivized to target the lowest common denominator. Today their film can be licensed to multiple distributors, one or more in each country. So, if they wanted to make as much return as possible, they’re going to target as wide as audience as possible.
What this would do is hurt the local distributors in those countries. Films would be licensed to companies who have a strong presence in all of the affected countries, instead of many distributors that are only prevalent in one. I assume this would lead to Netflix and Amazon getting the largest share.
I’d be interested if people in Europe find the current system to be a significant hassle or not.
I’ve had Cosmic Encounter sitting in my game collection for about 12 years unopened. (I got it shortly before I had kids… which changed my life drastically…). This is good motivation to open it up and give it a play!
Hive / 2 players / Requires basically zero setup. Game is easy to pickup and a bit strategic
Star Realms / 2 players / Requires shuffling, separating some cards out and dealing out a few cards. Rules look daunting at first, but it’s pretty straight forward after a few games. There’s a mobile app if you want to try the digital version.
Fox in the Forest / 2 players / minimal setup
Play these with my wife and they’re all good for a relatively quick game. We’re not a big fan of largely random games and prefer something a bit more strategic.
I felt the exact same way. Great style. The actors nailed it… the first act felt like it had a solid direction… and then they forgot where they were going for the rest of the movie.
Why was Barbie being in the real world an extreme crisis just for it to be no problem at the end of the movie?
The mother daughter relationship felt shallow and forced.
Why were the Barbies intelligent but also immediately brainwashed?
They could have cut Will Ferrell and the entire board by the end of the movie as they added virtually nothing to the plot except Will Ferrell jokes. Why did they even go to Barbieland? What did they accomplish? Why were they chasing them just to leave them alone? Did I miss major parts of this movie or something?
In our first game of Dead of Winter, the person setting up the game made a mistake and introduced too many betrayer cards. We ended up with 2 out of 4 of the players being betrayers… making for some really confusing conversations.
I don’t know… I put on a toga and a squid, demon, and a bear all tried to suddenly bang me (despite me being neutral or friendly to all of them)… I’m not sure this is romance…
Side note: was it a coincidence that the toga looking outfit seemed to trigger three separate encounters? The flavor text does say that it’s for seducing.
Haven’t played that particular Shantae game, but I found the series off putting to play in front of my kids due to the high amount of fan service. Seems like not what op might not be going for here.
