Nevrome, to pcgaming in Dead Cells team annouces Windblown, a flashy, action-packed rougelite
@Nevrome@lemmy.ca avatar

Interesting.

I loved playing Dead Cells, I will surely get this one once it’s out.

However, another website that spells rogue as rouge. Being a French-Canadian, I always read rougelike as “similar to the color red”.

Nevrome, to pcgaming in The Day Before - Steam EA launch: mostly negative (22% on 444 reviews while 37K playing...)
@Nevrome@lemmy.ca avatar

I wonder if EA automatically brings in negative reviews even if the game is somewhat enjoyable?

Genuinely asking, not a fan of EA in any way. I won’t buy this game but 22% seems atrociously low.

Surprised to see my GPU so low in the boards.

RX6600XT with only 0.43% market share.

Slight increase in 4060 (non-TI and TI) usage across the board.

Nevrome, to pcgaming in Blizzard allegedly surveyed Diablo 4 players about a $100 expansion
@Nevrome@lemmy.ca avatar

Yup, approximately what I had in mind, under 15% of the original player base.

The grinding needed in D2 and D3 didn’t feel as tiresome as it is in D4.

It might be that I’m becoming older, “grumpier” by the years and that I don’t have the patience and time to grind correctly anymore.

Nevrome, to pcgaming in Blizzard allegedly surveyed Diablo 4 players about a $100 expansion
@Nevrome@lemmy.ca avatar

Exactly. They’re maybe the minority but every one who played D2 and D3 with me along the years have given up on D4 after a month. They preferred going back to D2R.

I wonder what % of the player base has disappeared from the game since launch.

Sadly, they won’t change the naming scheme as more naive people still buy in the “micro” aspect of the name.

Nevrome, to asklemmy in If I'm over 25, is it still too late for me to "learn" French or can I just watch French sitcoms for like a year and be up-to-speed?
@Nevrome@lemmy.ca avatar

It’s never too late to learn a language. However, French is one hell of a step coming from English.

French is my main language and even if I’ve been speaking it for close to 40 years now, I still learn language exceptions and rules today.

Still, I’d give it a go if I were you, learning something new is always fun. Enjoy!

Nevrome, to pcgaming in Finally decided to go with Acer Nitro 5
@Nevrome@lemmy.ca avatar

I don’t know much about Acer’s proprietary software but there must be some place that you can set your battery to charge up to 60-80%. If you plan to use it while plugged most of the time, choose that option, it will extend your battery life.

Yes, with the proper care, your laptop can last you many years. It all comes down to how you handle it and maintain it.

Too good of a deal to skip it.

@Nevrome@lemmy.ca avatar

Those two issues are normal in the gaming laptop world.

My Zephyrus G14 reaches 80°C on both the GPU and CPU, they’re not made to be running at ice-cold temperatures. I got it in late 2021 and it still runs like it’s brand new, even with high temps in AAA games.

Gaming laptop are made to be used while plugged in, on the move. You CAN play games on the battery but it’s perfectly normal that it drains faster than a soda bottle found by a toddler. If you use it on the battery to do light work (database, IDE, YT, Facebook etc.), there are battery modes that will disable the GPU and use the integrated graphics. I get up to 8 hours from light tasking on mine.

Enjoy your new acquisition!

Nevrome, to gaming in Please help me select parts for a "competent" gaming PC
@Nevrome@lemmy.ca avatar

First, you want to play on high/60fps but at what resolution? Paying over 1700$CAD for a RTX4090 GPU seems overkill while a RX6800 or a RX7700/7800 would let you play at 1080p/1440p at high settings at a fraction of the price.

SSD is fine.

PSU could be reduced to 850W.

64GB RAM is overkill for gaming right now but potentially useful in the upcoming years.

Bottom line, you could save here and there and still have a capable AM5 machine.

If you want value for your buck, build yourself an AM4 machine. Yes, AM5 is out now but your rig could still last you many many years with the right AM4 components.

It is. However, if you can grab it through Gamepass Ultimate, go for it. You could buy a couple months worth of subscription and cancel it once you’re done with the game. It would be cheaper than buying it upfront.

Nevrome, to pcgaming in Steam and its Stats

Oh don’t misunderstand me, I know it’s meaningless.

I was just wondering why some people are stuffing up their numbers and calling out other gamers for having less expertise than them based on playtime.

Thanks for your answer!
