A bug was filed about this issue four months ago and ernest has commented on that thread, so he's aware of the problem. So far, no solution has been reached, which makes me as a moderator extremely demotivated. I don't want to put effort into building a community if comments that break community rules are federated but moderation is not.

It gives me a little hope when I see that those posts are universally reduced.

But yeah, this is important to me when picking a platform to use and support. I understand there is always going to be some bigotry on general-purpose instances, but there is a line that gets crossed when it's just hateful strawmen.

I think "block them and move on" is a good way to treat it excessive posts about spiderman or eyeliner or flashlight reviews.

But that attitude misunderstands the problem with bigoted posting.

It isn't that is does direct harm to "offended" viewers. It's that it spread shitty, wrong views to passive, opinionated viewers. Anyone who would block is not the target audience anyway. And some of us who would block need to keep an eye on what's going on.

Continuing from my last post here I opened my magazine on kbin instead of blahaj.zone but now I realise I never had the option to lock it so that only I could post to it like I did on blahaj, is that something I can do or is that what I'll have to sacrifice to have my preferred UI? In which case I'm really torn....
